Challenge 2 Rules and Thread

Pick an item from the list of 30 and PM it to me within 48 hours of this thread opening. If all players have their submissions in sooner. The game will start sooner. You may discuss your picks within this thread or over IMs/other communications, but you may not promise what specific item you will pick, directly or indirectly. If all submissions are in early, the next part will start earlier. Please submit a picture (can be stolen from the internet, in fact that's preferred) of your choice. Do not submit anything your avatar is wearing. Obviously, the mod isn't actually going to buy these items in real life. 

After you submit your items on the list, you will guess what everyone submitted via PM. Each right answer the group gets is worth $1,000. You may discuss guesses but may not claim what you submitted.

Titus escorts everyone to a big living room area with a nice shiny TV. Everyone has their favorite dinner dish in front of them, along with a catalog. "Are you aware of the expression the Emperor has no clothes? Well, that's not true in this case. You are going to "buy" yourself a piece of clothing that symbolizes you. Can the other players guess the emperor by his or her clothes? You are about to find out.

Hey titus, can you verify what type of communication were allowed to have?  I can't think of any communication that wouldn't indirectly reveal what item id pick. For example, if I say "I think ill pick one of X, Y or Z" and only one of those gets chosen of our 11 submissions - didn't I just indirectly reveal my item?

What can be allowed is general discussion. Ex: Men shouldn't pick women's clothing or I think of you as happy/cheerful, so pick something along those lines.

Also, I'm easing up a bit on the must bold if you put my name/mod in it.

Ok! Men shouldn't pick women's clothing and vice versa, that's a good start. I think we can net ourselves the full 12K if we commit to not being direct about what we're getting.

There's technically a rule in the challenge we could use to our advantage.

Do not submit anything your avatar is wearing.

This means that once we have the list of the items, we can go through and cross off anyone that is wearing that item as someone who may have submitted it. ^_^

mod: we can basically instruct someone else to wear something, but not specify exactly what nor specify what you yourself will be wearing?

This will be pretty easy then.

I think the point is to abuse the 'general' rules smartly enough while still remaining non-specific in order to nab us the most cash for the kitty!

We're dressing up nice for Ben's party Jal, make sure you pick something formal!

A general reminder, since this has happened twice. Please include a picture with your submission. Failure to do so means the mod will fill in a picture of the item you choose, at a cost of half of the success value for the item.

I mention this because people are submitting without pictures. You can add a picture of the item you want, even if you submitted an item without a picture. (Ex: Submitting lab coat, you can then PM me the lab coat you want.)

Pictures can come from google. I don't want to see your clothes. Nor do I care to ever.
